hi , i ve been surfing on the internet to know how to implement a mechanism so users can find something or someone near their own zip code ? how this method works ? i mean is there any relation or standard between zip code ? for example on match.com or yahoo classifieds search we can find goods and persons by zip code , thanks in advance
Forget about IP-to-location services, such as ip2location.com, as they don’t work in anything that could be called reliable. In some cases, you _may_ get something reasonably accurate. Or, as in my case, you get something that is off by 34 miles, and 3 counties away.
From the sound of your question, however, you’re talking about the user entering a zip code, and using that information. There are several places online that have zipcode-to-lat/lon databases. (Search for "zip code to latitude longitude".) Some have free interactive access, and others sell databases that you can use yourself. Either the census bureau and/or the post office probably has such databases available as well, though they probably charge for access.
Of course, the zip code databases will still only be approximate, as each zip code covers some area, not a single point.

I live in manchester, and i am looking for a magazine that discusses and displays websites, posters, artwork, digital artwork and many other design aspects.
If you have any idea how i can find a magazine like this, maybe a reference to a website, that would be great. Thank you.

WH Smiths take orders for virtually any magazine you’d like, they have a catalogue or computer search.
It might be an idea to pop in to Manchester uni or the Mcr Met uni, they would have publicity materials plus you could ask any passing students on that campus. Or search their websites for info.
Students union on oxford rd might also be able to help. Plus they could point you in the direction of a good store that has lots of diff types of magazines.
Believe it or not, the newsagent at piccadilly bus station contains lots of diff types of magazines that i havent seen elsewhere! Might be worth a try. Theres a magazine shop on oldham street too, about a quarter down on the right, coming from piccadilly gardens end.
Hope this helps!
I am trying to do a website layout, and I want the design to look like pages turning in a book. Does anyone know of any tutorials out there?
http://w3schools.com/
They have tutorials on just about anything you’d like to do to a website.
Have fun and good luck.
I have a guy that wants to charge $1000 to build my ecommerce website. He says that is just for the programming of the website no labor costs. Is this true? Can I get this any cheaper?
It’s expensive.. You might want to try finding a magneto and find a magneto expert to make you a template. This should cost a fortune less.
I was wondering how this deal work and if it is a good company… thank you in advance!
I hired them a little over a year ago, and they did a great job with my site. I had a really good experience with HWS!
Hope this helps!
I’m currently 18 years old and about to go to college. I have a job but I want another way to make some more money fro college. Is there a website that gives you small jobs in web or graphics design that pays? I’m not looking for a lot of money, just some that I can accumulate over time.
If you are really good, why not join a contest like these: http://contestcreative.com/news.php?extend.37
I know some people make a decent living by designing and winning these kind of contests.
Good luck.

Indiamart (website – www.Indiamart.com ) is an specialized Indian company that not only designs websites for mostly gems, jwellery and handicraft items companies/ stores, but also promotes them on the internet (including on search engines like google).
Currently, IndiaMart is India’s no.1 web developer + online business promotion company. Their rates range from – US$ 250 to 500 to 1000 and more.
I’ve been told that I should try graphic design in college (I’m a junior in high school now) & as a career. But, what does a graphic designer do? What kinds of jobs would one who majors in graphic design in college have after graduating? What classes should I take now to prepare to major in it in college if it’s something I want to do?
Thanks in advance! =)
P.S. – If you think I’ll get better answers in another category (Y!A suggested this one and the Visual Arts category), please let me know. Thanks!
Go to www.aiga.org and look at their information on design education and design careers. AIGA is the professional organization for graphic design and so you know you are getting solid information there.
To prepare, pump up your basic drawing skills because you will need to submit a portfolio to be accepted into a reputable design program. Most of them look closely at drawing in entrance portfolios. Yes, graphic designers need reasonably good drawing skills because that’s how ideas are developed and refined before jumping onto the computer. They’ll look at computer work, advertising, photo, and other art areas too but the drawings are weighed most heavily.
Good luck! It is a great profession with lots of opportunity.
Looking to move to near Dallas, TX. How is the job market in the web development industry? What programming languages are prominent? What is the salary range for senior level web developer? Are web developers in high demand in Texas?
Even in the face of a weak economy, IT confidence and paychecks haven’t taken a major hit.
It wasn’t exactly Christmas in July for IT workers around the world, but with a number of new surveys pointing out that the tech job market remains in fairly solid shape, it qualified as at least an early Thanksgiving.

I’m thinking of learning web-site design as one of my hobby and I would like to know what is the average income of designing website.
What is the price they usually charged to hire people to design their website.
What are the programs that I need to learn to start designing my websites?
Our senior web designers make around $95-250/hour depending on the type of work, if on an hourly basis. This is in Manhattan, where prices are higher.
Otherwise, a general idea is that a professional website designer can charge anywhere starting at $500 per custom-made page. That means that the page is created entirely by them, from their own imagination. Otherwise, if you are simply copy pasting a template, then $50-100 should do just fine.
It really comes down to whether you do customized work or you simply copy and paste into existing templates. If you want to be dishonest you can always charge high prices for template work as well.
