Would any students in web design be willing to create an eCommerce website for their portfolio or a small fee, if so, where would i enquire? Would it be ok to post an ad down at the university campus, would that be allowed?
Hi Pregunta… here is my email, drop me a line and i will give you my contact details.
nigan68@yahoo.co.uk
if you want you may contact me let me know I can help you other option is to get a freelancer you can search trough peoples portfolios and abilities at some websites and hire based on that
I work as a freelancer at www.odesk.com they have tons of people
by the way the site is fee based the fee is charged to the person hired you can register for free and post your job offer and people will tell you how much for it
by the way what you mention about posting at a university will also be a good idea
and also think about opensource there is most likely an ecomerce opensource website
I am taking an online math class and having trouble. I need a website that will let me enter in the exact problem I’m working on and show me the steps to solving the problem. Does anyone know of a website that does this?
there are programs that will solve equations or complicated math problems but they take a bit of learning in and of themselves. Two are mathematica and matlab. There is a free one called "R," which is used for stat.
I don’t know of any program that will show you the steps of how to solve the problem. Best way is to type in the type of problem online and find similiar ones or go to the library and look at a whole bunch of texts on the subject to find different worked out problems.
and there is always yahoo answers.
I wanted to know how to design graphics for an online game (Priston Tale) specifically, i wanted to know how to make armor.
Can anyone teach me or point me a good tutorial on the web?
Thx!
you need the software.
I need a good, free (if possible) program so i can design my website.
All help is appreciated.
I use Adobe dreamweaver since adobe bought it off macromedia….it’s pretty easy and you can do more advance thing in it if you want.
If you are serious, i think the work force wood require you to know that program.
I am in my last year of school, I am working on my BFA in Graphic Design. I am currently living in northern California (about 1 hour north of San Francisco) and I am planning to search for jobs within the field and re-locate. I am thinking of either San Francisco, Los Angeles or possibly Orange county. I wanted to see if anyone has had any opinion or personal experience as a graphic designer in any of these cities. I have lived in Orange Co. before so I am open to relocating down there or closer to LA. I know that SF is a great place, but I prefer the climate and beaches of SoCal. Any thoughts?
Milwaukee. definitely.
i have no knowledge in web development and programming, but i would like to learn how to do it. i want to know how to build a website that is aesthetic and with some programming in it. For example, shopping cart, member log in page…etc.
There are two ways of making websites:
- The lazy way,
- The professional way.
You can try Dreamweaver: it will allow you to build a (semi-)static site, but you will never learn how to code.
You can try Frontpage or any other "website builder", which are
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), but, again, you will
NEVER learn to code properly.
If you want to get into web development:
- Buy a Domain, (10$/year)
- Rent a LAMP server (50$/year, NO ads!). LAMP: "Linux/unix, Apache, Mysql, Php). Important: any other window based server will cost you at least twice that and will require you to learn a lot about Microsoft.
- Download an FTP program (ie FTP Explorer)
- Download Notepad++ (free)
- Visit www.w3schools.com and start learning HTML, do the examples, experiment.
- Then learn javascript.
- Then try your luck with Php and Mysql.
Within two-three months, you will have your site AND you will have gotten the grip on programming for the web.
ANY other way is the lazy way that leads to "amateur" website
ratings (and makes you one of the millions of "web designers" that can’t finish anything)
You can find some simple HTML, javascript, Php, mysql and even
AJAX at http://www.web2coders.com.
Download all the scripts (all free), and see how they are coded. Upload them to your server and start "changing things around". Some of them are simple and only use HTML and Javascript, others are more complex.
That’s the best way to learn: by examples.
Later on, when you will be fluent in all these languages, you will ask yourself the question: "Since I know Php and Mysql, why the *** should I use Joomla, Miva, Ruby-on-Rails, Dreamweaver, Frontpage (or any other for that matter)????"
Good luck.
I am learning various programming languages (JAVA, C) in school right now but I want to learn website design languages on the side. What do you recommend I start out learning?
I am a web designer. I recommend you HTML, XHTML and CSS. These are the languages used for web designing. For web developing you should learn PHP or ASP Language. HTML is used to create static websites but PHP and ASP is used to create dynamic websites.
You should learn HTML, XHTML and CSS first. After completing these you can learn PHP and ASP.
You can also learn these languages sitting in your home.
www.w3schools.com.
This website gives all the teachings free to its students all over the world for your diploma you have to pay them 75 $ per exam. You can get your HTML Developer Diploma by studying there and paying them 75$ when you finished your studies for exam.
If you want to be just a web designer not by studying it. You can use Webpage Maker this is the software. With the help o f which a child can create websites.
Download a trial version here its just 3.66 MB

I have a solid, profitable idea for a website – and while I know it’s possible to build the site I have in mind, I’m not a programmer and I have no idea how to go about it. Also, the project is large enough that it would require several people and a time committment. I just don’t know where to find the right people I need for the job. Without being too specific and giving away my idea, it is based on p2p live video. Thanks for any help you can offer.
rentacoder.com or elance.com is where I would start. Both sites allow you to post the project and accept bids. Don’t always go for the cheapest price but with someone who has demonstrated experience.
Scott…
I am an aspiring graphic designer and want to purchase a computer that will last me through my undergraduate degree in design. What is the standard that will last me through my working years?
I’d probably go with a Mac Pro and a big monitor, not necessarily Apple. However if you want something more compact and a bit cheaper, get one of the higher end iMacs with the 24” monitor. Don’t get a laptop or the Mac mini because they just aren’t powerful enough or the screen is too small.
