I’m 14 and I’ve been looking for a decent job so I can get myself off the ground. I’m really good at graphics design, and I’d really like to try to find a graphics design job. Where could I find one, and how do I apply?
And what if I’m amazingly talented, then?

-cough-Five pieces in art fair-cough-

Talent alone will not get your foot in the door for a position in graphic design. You also need at least a bachelors degree in art since most employers will not accept anything less. In your case, you are also too young.
You can go to a graphic design firm in person and talk to them. Find out if maybe you can intern there or volunteer during the summer. Your other option is freelancing.

I’m extremely talented myself and have an associates degree in drafting. Wanted to go to art school but couldn’t afford it. Anyway, I did try getting a graphic design position, even had a portfolio of art I created myself. No employer would bother giving me a chance, even in an entry level position all because I don’t have the degree.

I’m a junior in high school, and I plan to go to college for graphics design. I’ve been looking for some colleges lately, and I haven’t really found much.

Do you guys know of any colleges in Florida with good graphic design programs?

Thanks! ( :

To help rule out some schools, the art institute has some complaints posted at http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

With schooling, please do steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (may have ‘bricks and mortar’ buildings and may be ‘accredited’) such as penn foster, capella, ITT tech, university of phoenix, strayer, ashworth, kaplan, devry, argosy, sanford brown, ashford, walden, remington and others as they are merely out to ‘make a profit’ (and course credits may Not transfer): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

This website has posts by former students about various colleges: http://www.studentsreview.com and can type into search and click ‘comments’ if there are any.

For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘graphic designers’ or such.

I am looking for a good online program to help me get a degree in graphics design. I have done a lot of animation, but I am a self taught animator. I would appreciate any feedback for getting a degree in graphics. I know having a degree doesn’t mean you are a good animator, but it does help when looing for a job.

Strangely enough going to school to learn to be an animator is alot smarter then going for graphic design.
If your good at drawing pursue illustration or animation the money is a hell of a lot better.
Animation companies don’t care AT ALL if you have a degree in astrophysics or classical animation. They just want a pretty demo reel filled with promising pieces of animation.
If you love to animate study animation!! If you like to draw pretty pictures pursue illustration.
The graphic design market is super flooded with people looking for jobs, and with this economy nobody’s looking to hire any. That means there are no jobs and the ones that do exist pay very little. On the other hand animation is a specialized skill so even though it’s super competitive there aren’t as many people to fill the need.

I’m currently 18 years old and about to go to college. I have a job but I want another way to make some more money fro college. Is there a website that gives you small jobs in web or graphics design that pays? I’m not looking for a lot of money, just some that I can accumulate over time.

If you are really good, why not join a contest like these: http://contestcreative.com/news.php?extend.37

I know some people make a decent living by designing and winning these kind of contests.

Good luck.

Graphic designers combine artistic ability with technical knowledge to create designs used in print and electronic media. First-year courses introduce students to graphics software, typography and design fundamentals that are essential for success in the graphics media industry. Second-year students apply these skills in a unique instructional setting that blends marketing and advertising concepts with art production. Design ability is strengthened through instruction in printing, pre-press, and finishing operations. A fourth semester course prepares students for employment through career and portfolio development.

The graphic designer’s employment opportunities are varied and competitive. Designers find employment as graphic designers and graphic artists with advertising agencies, printing companies, corporate art departments and publishers; as online web site developers; in public relations firms; and as free-lance designers. Earning potential increases with extended and varied work experience. Lean more at www.westerntc.edu

w3schools.com
I also search for different codes as I use them and then try them and attempt to memorize. No cheatsheets for me anymore. =)
