looking for tablet pc solutions to extend a web app?

Would like to know what options are available to extend a web based j2ee application so that it can be used on tablet PCs.
Goal is to reused the existing components and provide a standalone application on tablet and then allow to synchronize back with the main application/database.

Search some ideas in any forums this might help.

I am new to graphics design. I am looking for the best software used in the industry to making professional logo’s and mascotes (cartoon characters). Im not talking about animation, just the actual logo or mascote.

The main softwares that graphic designers use right now are all created by Adobe. You can go to adobe.com and download several free trial outs of many programs for 30 days. I would suggest Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, and Adobe Proffesional to make your PDF and print your work. All other programs are really not used at a professional level.

What’s a good configuration for a web development server for local network?

We’re about to purchase a development server for our team of web developers – php and javascript programmers. We’re planning on running LAMP and Subversion. What is the best hardware (processor, memory, manufacturer) and software (flavor of linux, setup, etc.) configuration? And what’s the best way to network it to a team of 4 Windows machines?

It really depends on your budget. "Best" hardware is, to my mind, the fastest and largest capacity you can reasonably afford. For this sort of server, I’d choose more RAM over faster processor, and fastest/biggest hard drives I could find. I’m partial to Slackware Linux, as it’s free and very stable. If you’re using Subversion, then just regular old TCP/IP should be sufficient, but you could easily configure Samba for Windows sharing if you chose to. The level of your question indicates you’re not particularly comfortable doing this yourself, so it’s probably worth your money to pay a consultant to help you make these decisions and get it all installed and running. That gives you the additional safety net of having someone available to help you out if things go sideways.

Since I am not a web designer what I need is just one friendly tool to design my own website, something which contains maybe a gallerie with predesigned templates, video tutorials etc. It should support Greek Language for the website. Payment is not a problem since you can’t have it all…

I haven’t tried it because I use a more advance program to create my websites (Adobe Dreamweaver) but Intuit websites looks like a fairly easy program (website) to use to create a webpage. http://www.intuit.com/website-building-software/

We are looking for reliable business partner for this and we are ready to hear good business proposals.

I recommend writing a short job spec for a specific project (or several). Submit that at Guru.com and you will receive many responses. Some will be boilerplate (standard text) and some will show that people have taken the time to examine your project and respond. Ignore the former and work hard at qualifying the latter through references, questions, and their interest.

This has worked well for me and I now have a short list of partners that I use constantly. Some are in India, some in US, and one is in Eastern Europe. The work is going well and the costs are attractive. The key to my success, thought, was working hard up front to qualify the partners prior spending any money, then giving each of them a single project with no additonal commitments. One didn’t perform well and I dropped them. The others have been with me for over a year.
