    I completely agree. A cohesive design makes all the difference. We have a newsletter at work, that I can’t make myself read because of their horrible font choices.

    Great video and good points all around. Definitely a good clean, simple design that can be carried through in bits and pieces through all the merchandise and indentifications is better than a bunch of complex, confusing (though interesting) images.

    Karen, you’re …
    Karen, you’re absolutely right about design identification. My friend Liz said the same thing. I’ve been working on this, Using the LotR typeface, having “Zotte” in blue and “Park” in red and in front of a white rounded glowing rectangle (signifying a TV, much like YouTube).

    Yes, I have some ideas for background design. The only thing that’s not so fun is that I’ve never quite satisfied. I’m sure you’ve experienced that “I am my own worst critic” feeling.

    Thanks so much! I was kind of nervous posting this because I wasn’t sure if people wanted to just hear me talk for 3 minutes, but since people seem to have enjoyed it, I can try to make more.

    @xperpetualmotion …
    @xperpetualmotion probably more along the lines of semiotics, less youtube centered. I’m thinking about that ban comic sans video. Maybe just about how much graphic design is around us all the time and we don’t even realize it. Though I think what you did was perfect, concise, to the point, and uh…it needed to be said.

    Yeah, it’s a shame non-partners get so little channel design options. But the background you choose is really the most important part, and a well-designed background can make even a non-partnered page look awesome.
