If you are going to look for a web designer and hire someone descent. I think you need someone more then just a designer, you want to probably control this site and make changes since this is going to be a news site none the less. Know what you want will save you money and have everything prepared before you step foot into a web design firm office so you can ask questions like I would like my site to function like this, look like that, and have content like videos, news, articles, etc if you do this not only will you shock the web designer but also make them energized to work with you because you have a path you want to go with this, I highly recommend you do it. If you aren’t prepared you are going to get what you are going to get.
Make sure to check portfolio for experience and professionalism. Also important is to make sure the designer personality is good because you are going to be calling this person and you don’t want them yelling at you for who know what reasons and is hard to communicate with.
